Events

18 August - Cowes Carnival
Cowes - The Cowes carnivals are a number of events held in Cowes, on the Isle of Wight just 3 miles off the coast of southern England. Cowes is a small but well known sailing town, famous for its sailing events such as Cowes Week and the Americas Cup which attract people from around the world. Our carnivals are held numerous times throughout the year and we also enter many of the other carnivals around the Island. Our float is based on our carnival queens who are picked each year, with a different theme. Recent themes have included strawberrys and cream, indian summer, the ocean and of course in 2008 the 'Egyptian Queens'.

21 August - Ryde Carnival
Ryde -

Through the months of summer, for the amusement and entertainment of ourselves and our guests, the Isle of Wight last year staged over twenty carnivals in towns and villages around the island. Details of this coming year's other carnivals can be found elsewhere on this site. The carnival season culminates with what we like to think of as the Ultimate Isle of Wight Carnival at Ryde, featuring over 2,000 performers from carnival clubs around the Isle of Wight . This is a sensory feast of sound, with musical influences from Rio Samba, Trinidad Steel Pan and Local bands. Movement in fabulous costumes with influences from Trinidad, Rio, Notting Hill, Venice, English Masquerade and Mardi Gras. Colour an experience like no other! Where, for a few hours, we can all forget who we are and what we do - and just party
